Location Lighting workshop

It is not often that I end up in the picture. Two posts in a row! Friday and Saturday, I attending a Location Lighting Workshop at the 1111 N Cherry Street Chicago, IL Calument photo store. Rick Friedman gave an excellent workshop to a small group of photographers.

Photography related posts and information will be inserted to my teaching site. Keeping tabs on different web locations take up too much time which is better spent creating new content. Instead of trying to manage different sites, some of my photographic work will be integrated in this teaching site. Two photography links are located on the right Navigation sidebar, Photography archive and Flickr photo gallery. They will display current photographs.

2011 Wisconsin Workers Protest Book

Madison, Wisconsin. Dennis Weidemann held a book release party announcing the publication of his new book, Cut from Plain Cloth. His book showcases photographs from many local photographers. He interviewed several of the people that protested during one of the many demonstrations that were held this spring. About 15 of my photographs are included in the book. Handmade Paper in Motion portfolio

I had the pleasure of taking photos of the newest portfolio from the Hand Papermaking Organization group. About every two years, Hand Papermaking issues a call for submissions and curates a national competition to promote fine made made from handmade paper. Wisconsin Triennial 2010

Saturday was a beautiful sun filed day. When my colleague Gail Simpson called to ask advice on taking a photograph of Vanishing Point, Actual Size Artworks piece in the 2010 Wisconsin Triennial at the Madison Museum of Contemporary Art, I jumped at the change to go outside and stroll along State Street. Vanishing Point stands 20 feet high and is on display inside the corner window area of the museum. Make sure to see the exhibition. My colleague Lisa Gralnick, is having a major exhibition at the Bellevue Art Museum (March 18 – August 1, 2010) in Washington State. Poet, writer and filmmaker Jimmy Santiago Baca met with students and staff at the Multicultural Center at the University of Wisconsin-Madison recently. The focus of the meeting was to discuss how to build unity and increase awareness for Latino students. It was a pleasure to see such a well know writer and activist meet with students.
